"The Biblical Patriot"

Every Disciple of the Lord Jesus has a triple loyalty while on earth. It has always been so throughout human history for those who would follow the true Jehovah, the Lord of Hosts, the God of Armies. Eventually this triune allegiance will evolve into only one loyalty when we are in Christ's full Presence forever. But for now we must deal with three kingdoms … the one Without, the one Above and the one Within! The mature and effective patriot is one who is gaining the Mind of Christ about all things! (Phil. 2:5). He or she possesses the Biblical vision and energy with which to love our country, embrace Christ's cross and conquer the self. There will be war on earth until the war in heaven is concluded (Rev. 12:7-10).
I. "The Kingdom Without" - The Government of America
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. The people He chose for His inheritance." Psalm 33:12
A. Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution
 1. Two strands of truth - secular and Judeo-Christian (optimistic/realistic)
2. Based on the God of Creation - "not" the God of Redemption
3. Tension Genius - secular tyranny vs. religious tyranny
B. Greatest successful experiment in history of freedom - prosperity
C. Winston Churchill - "Democracy is the worst form of government on earth but it is better than any other." John Adams - "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
II. "The Kingdom Above" - The Government of God
"They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." Revelation 12:11

B. "By the Blood of the Lamb"…Earth's Greatest Value
C. "And by the Word of Their Testimony"…Earth's Greatest Voice
D. "They Did Not Love Their Lives"…Earth's Greatest Vision
E. "As to Shrink from Death"…Earth's Greatest Vindication
III. "The Kingdom Within" - The Government of Self
"… Those were the men of the tribe of Issachar, who understood the times and what Israel should do …" I Chronicles 12:32 "… the kingdom of God is within you." Jesus in Luke 17:21
A. The most Critical issue … learn to hear Christ's Voice on your own
B. Find your Mission … be a Man who knows the Master and has a Message
C. Tell your story - America's Heroes - Medal of Honor
D. The Lord spoke while He bled … we just speak
Conclusion: Our first priority is the Kingdom Above; but that reality is given substance by how we conquer the Kingdom Within and contribute to the Kingdom Without. The Patriot of the Kingdom who bleeds first for the will of King Jesus will bleed best as a Patriot of his Country! May our Lord grant that we conquer self and be His kind of patriot for both.
